No one denies the importance of tablet computers in the daily life of millions of people worldwide. Today, major companies are striving to innovate tablets features given the consumer a plethora of options.
Companies like Apple are competing with global companies to meet their consumers’ demands. No one denies that when the iPad was invented, it has dramatically changed the way technology is used. The ten inch iPad is now used in all fields and some universities are using it as a compulsory tool for learning. Even more, some developing countries decided to go paperless with it.
In order to respond to the rising demand, Google has stepped up the competition by introducing its ally Samsung against Microsoft and Apple. They have created the Nexus 7, a seven inch tablet that comes with all Google services at a reasonable price. Most recently, Google has announced its 10 inch tablet as the newest competition to the iPad. These devices are increasingly welcomed by consumers, notably given their competitive pricing compared to Apples products.
Seven inch tablets such as Samsung Tab Kindle Fire, Barnes and Noble and other Android based devices have taken the lion share in recent studies. At the time of Steve Jobs, apple didn’t think to produce a seven inch tablet because he was totally against this idea as he thought that a seven inch tablet would distort the image of the company. However, many users opt for r a smaller, more portable tablet that would bring access to all the Apple ecosystem had to offer, in a package you could easily hold in one hand. Specifically, a package more affordable than the 10-incher.
Apple wanted to be very clear at its product-packed iPad mini launch event that this isn’t just a shrunken-down iPad. And, indeed, that starts with a very different case design. While the second, third and fourth generations of iPads have all been more or less indistinguishable, the iPad mini’s anodized aluminum back looks entirely different. In fact, it looks a lot more like a blown-up fifth-generation iPod touch than a shrunken-down fourth-generation iPad as one of the Engaget analysts underscored.
The two major companies have invented three sizes products as they believe that users use more than one device. Apple has the 10, 7,9 inch ipads and the iphone. Google has followed a similar approach and created its three sizes which are the Nexus 4 phone, 7 and 10 inch tablets.
Moving forward, no doubt tablets have changed the world’s usage of ICT. Day after day, we are convinced to go paperless thanks to these ever-developing tools.
