Morocco’s fight against corruption is making little headway and its policy to combat this plague lacks strategic dimension and effective commitment, a report by the anti-corruption agency (ICPC) said.
The 2010-2011 report, presented on Friday in Rabat during a press briefing, says that the global approach to measure the scope of corruption shows that Morocco made little headway in that area and that recommendations laid in the previous report were not implemented.
The steps made over the past period are: updating the government action program to fight corruption and promulgating the law on the corruption witnesses’ protection, said the agency’s head Abdeslam Aboudrar.
The text, which was submitted to the head of government, underlines the absence of a strategic dimension likely to lay the bases for an efficient, integrated policy to combat corruption.
The ICPC is calling for a real, serious commitment to fight corruption, privileges and monopolies as a requisite to recover and protect public funds.
