UK Prime Minister David Cameron has cited Morocco among countries where his country seeks to reinforce its trade presence.
“There are valuable markets that just haven’t received the attention from government that they deserve” like Kuwait, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa and Morocco, Mr Cameron said on Monday in his Guildhall speech on foreign policy.
“We need to do more to get Britain into these markets now,” said the Prime Minister, who announced the appointment of trade envoys to a number of countries.
He pointed out that the envoys will engage directly with governments in each of those countries and help open up those crucial markets to more British businesses.
The post of trading envoy to Morocco was entrusted to Lord Sharman of Redlynch, former Liberal Democrat Spokesperson for Trade and Industry.
Besides Morocco, Mr Cameron appointed trading envoys to Mexico, Kuwait, Jordan, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, and South Africa.
