An helicopter from the Moroccan army crashed in the city of Guelmim on Wednesday evening. According to medical sources cited by AFP, nine individuals were killed and two seriously injured. Eight of the aircraft’s 11 passengers died in the crash. Three others were taken to the hospital, and one of them died of injuries. The cause of the accident is still unknown.
This is the second crash that happens in southern Morocco this year and the third in less than two years. On 11 April, 2012, the crash of an American hybrid airplane resulted in the death of two marines and left two wounded. In July 2011, a military plane crashed in Guelmim, killing 80 people.
