The financing of the high-speed railway is completed and the launch of this major infrastructure project is planned for 2013, said on Tuesday Minister of Economy and Finance, Nizar Baraka.
The minister recalled, during a conference organized by MAP news agency, that a contract-program for 2010-2015 was signed between the government and the Moroccan Railways National Office (ONCF) as well as another agreement between the Hassan II Fund for Economic and Social Development and the ONCF to partially finance construction of the high-speed railway linking Tangier with Casablanca.
The total amount of the investments covered by the contract-program 2010-15 is estimated at 33 billion dirhams (3.8 billion dollars), including 20 billion dirhams for the high-speed railway and 12.8 billion dirhams for other investments aiming at modernizing the existing rail network.
