CAIRO, Nov 20, 2012 (AFP) –
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi “hopes” a truce in Gaza will soon be reached, a presidency official said on Tuesday, qualifying earlier remarks by Morsi reported by the official news agency.
The president “hopes there will be a settlement soon,” the official said.
The official MENA news agency earlier reported that Morsi, in a speech at his sister’s funeral, said Israel’s “aggression” against Gaza would end on Tuesday.
A senior Hamas official told AFP the truce to end the fighting with Israel would be reached within hours.
