Famous Lebanese singer, Wael Kfoury, has been criticized by some people for being “arrogant” towards his fans.
People who attended an event held at Mazagan resort in El Jadida (60 miles south of Casablanca) on November 10, to which the singer was invited, along with Moroccan singer Fatine Hilal Bik, slammed his insulting behavior towards the public when he was greeting some of the attendees who jumped to greet him.
According to an attendee who preferred to speak in a condition of anonymity, every time the singer was greeted by one of his admirers, he “used the hand sanitizer,” to clean his hands, which was deemed by many people as an humiliating move towards the public.
“Each time a fan greeted him, either by shaking hands of by kissing on the cheek, he cleaned his hands and face with hand sanitizer, and then gave back the antiseptic product to his bodyguards,” our source said.
According to the same source, the singer, who was paid MAD 300,000 ($ 35,000) for a 90-minute performance, acted as if he was “a king”, looking down on his fans.
“Khalas Khalas, Bikafi,” enough, enough,” he told his fans as he was appearing on stage.
“I was outraged when I saw him behaving this way in total disregard of his fans’ dignity”, another person who attended the event told MWN. “But he is not the one to blame, those to blame are the people who brought him and treated him as if he was an alien, while they belittle Moroccan artists,” he added.
Many Moroccans criticize the tendency of the different stakeholders in the music industry to favor foreign singers over Moroccan artists, even when the formers’ talent is way below that of latter.
