Rabat, November 25, 2012 (AMP)
The House of Representatives has adopted, late Saturday, the 2013 budget with 137 votes against 56.
The lower house had earlier Saturday voted in the first part of the budget with 155 votes against 79. The text needs now to pass the hurdle of the House of Advisors in order to be fully adopted by parliament.
About 250 changes were formulated by the majority (58) and opposition (192) parliamentary groups. That is a historical record of amendments on the draft budget in Morocco. They touched mainly on reinforcing transparency, implementing tax equity, promoting social solidarity and consolidating Morocco’s attractiveness of investments.
The 2013 budget predicts an economic growth of 4.5 pc. It also looks to reduce budget deficit to 4.8 pc of the GDP and to create 24,000 jobs, most in social sectors.
