Morocco and the United States signed, here Wednesday, an agreement aimed to facilitate trade exchages between the two countries, already linked since 2006 by a free trade agreement.
The agreement lays down new transparency standards aimed to ease off the exportation procedures of products destined to small and big enterprises in the two countries.
The agreement provides also for commitments that reflect some innovations and practices developed after the signing of the FTA, such as the prior submission of data before the arrival of the exported goods, and internet payment of customs’ duties..
The agreement was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Industries, Trade and New Technologies, Abdelkader Amara, and Deputy U.S. Trade Representative, Miriam Sapiro.
Amara told MAP the new agreement reflects Morocco’s will to be raised to a privileged position in the world economy, adding that it is a plus for Morocco as it will encourage American investors to trade with the north African country.
For her part, the US official said Morocco is among the US’ privileged partners in the region and the world, adding that Amara’s visit will allow for examining new measures to further promote trade exchanges.
