France expects an increase in the number of the countries recognizing the Syrian National Coalition during the 4th Ministerial Meeting of the Group of Friends of the Syrian people, slated for December 12 in Marrakesh, announced on Friday the French Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“What we expect from the meeting in Marrakech, where France will be represented by FM Laurent Fabius, is an increase in the number of countries recognizing the Coalition” formed by the revolutionary forces and the Syrian opposition at the end of the Doha Agreement on November 11, said spokesperson of the Ministry, Philippe Lalliot.
He said that this “important” meeting can lead to “the concentration of humanitarian aid through the Syrian National Coalition” and to the establishment of “a fund to support the Syrian people.”
Lalliot welcomed in this regard the initiative of the Moroccan military hospital in the camp Zaatari set up on the Syrian-Jordanian border, considering it as “one of the first examples of structured humanitarian aid to these refugee camps, which since the summer has witnessed a massive influx of refugees fleeing fighting and violence in Syria. “
Syria will be at the heart of talks between the French Foreign Minister and Moroccan counterpart, Saad El Dine Otmani in the framework of the high French-Moroccan joint meeting on December 12-13 in Casablanca and Rabat.
The meeting, which will be held under the theme “Morocco-France, an exceptional partnership to serve the youth,” is to “examine ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and develop a number of common projects,” Lalliot said.
