A video published in YouTube shows Abdelilah Benkirane in a state of rage addressing MPs during the monthly meeting of oral questions relating to public policy , which was hold on Friday.
The session devoted to the issue of food security saw a heated debate to the extent of exchanging verbal barbs and criticism between the prime minister and heads of the opposition teams, in particular the team of the party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) lead by Hakim Benchemas.
Addressing the MPs, the prime minister talked about the social cohesion of the Moroccan society, saying that “thanks to the efforts of the new government” it blocked an attempt of a party “known to all Moroccans” to dominate by any means” and lead Morocco to a state similar to that of Egypt before Morsi.
The room precipitously became noisy when the prime minister said, “you are wrong to think that only through media, conspiracies and cunning ways you can defeat us.”
Amid the noise that filled up the room, the head of the session tried to calm everyone down, urging them to stick to the topic of the session “Agricultural security.” But members of the team of the party of Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) started to walk out of the room after Benkirane said “ li fih lfez kay qfez”, a famous and offensive Moroccan proverb, meaning “a guilty conscience needs no accuser.”
Benkirane raged at one of the PAM’s members, who was leaving the room along with his colleagues, ordering him to “respect ministers.”
Addressing Idris al-Radhi, a councilor form the partyof the Constitutional Union, Benkirane added that the “serious danger menacing Morocco is not food security but rather such practices and this kind of people whose main purpose is to control the masses and act in their convenience.”
