The Moroccan government has taken a series of measures following the decision of the Dutch authorities to cut the pensions of retired Moroccans settled in Morocco, said on Monday, Foreign Minister, Saad Dine El Otmani.
Addressing a question at the House of Representatives on the matter, El Otmani noted that the Embassy of Morocco in the Netherland remains mobilized to monitor this issue in addition to the regular exchange of visits.
He pointed out that the government is coordinating with other countries whose citizens were victims of similar measures, particularly Egypt, Tunisia and Turkey to define the legal and diplomatic frameworks, adding that his department made contacts with the international Labor Organization to coordinate positions and seek legal advice on the matter.
El Otmani noted that the Dutch parliament adopted a law unilaterally abolishing an agreement on the pensions of retirees and their dependents, as of January 2013
