****************
On a wonderland, there landed a Street Car Named Desire
A car for which she’d always wished, hoped and aspired
Like a craving Kite Runner,
Her Dreams of Trespass sought to go higher!
****************
A passer-by stepped out of the car
In its hand, she could glimpse a magic Bell Jar,
She could neither give it a thought
Nor figure it out…
****************
Yet, she held Great Expectations
Bigger and finer aspirations
Though dubious,
She opened the jar, as coy as a mistress.
****************
Akin to magic, Desire ran through her veins
So rhythmical was its melody,
So moving was the tune of her longing chains
****************
Soon… the magic breeze flew her To the Lighthouse
Felt like a trance: So glowing were the waves surrounding the house!
****************
All of a sudden, she was crowned with glorious Pride and Prejudice
Flawless the world appeared: Nothing seemed amiss
Though her heart had taken a sip from the cup of sorrow,
The beguiling Desire could unchain her woe
****************
Her soul screamed, shouted and yelled:
“No more mourning for covetous Macbeth!”
“No more pity for Daisy Miller or Tess of the D’Urberville!”
YES… She could finally take a last grieving breath!!
****************
She no longer wanted to be the villain;
The anonymous body of someone’s masterpiece
She’s becoming THE one woman
Not even a fantasy goddess of Old Greece
****************
Thus, she cried…
Cried a heartfelt farewell to her past’s Little Women, Sons and Lovers,
No more worthless waiting for such non-comers!!
****************
With wanderlust, she drove the Streetcar,
To a terra firma where the Sun Also Rises…
