Several MPs at the two houses of the British parliament paid, on Thursday, tribute to King Mohammed VI’s leadership and far-sightedness in leading the Kingdom’s successful reform process.
Members of the house of lords and the house of commons, who spoke to MAP following a meeting with Tourism Minister Lahcen Haddad in the presence of Morocco’s ambassador to UK Chrifa Lalla Joumala, underlined that Morocco is the exception in a region that fell prey to instability.
The instability in some neighboring countries following the Arab spring and the events in the Sahel region and Algeria testifies to Morocco’s specificity as haven of peace and stability, deputy Meg Munn (Labor party-opposition) said.
She recalled that King Mohammed VI responded wisely and with insight to his people’s expectations, opening the way for reinforcing the Kingdom’s democratic process.
Echoing her, Lord Harrison of Chester said Morocco’s democratic experience will be debated in the near future at the Westminster parliament.
Ian Liddell-Grainger, deputy of the conservative party leading the British government coalition, said that the UK will spare no effort in supporting Morocco’s democratic march under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
