The Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad (Marocains Residant a l’Etranger) and Al Akhawayn University signed a partnership agreement on January 31st, 2013 in Casablanca.
The bilateral agreement was Signed by Minister Abdellatif Maazouz and Al Akhawayn University President Driss Ouaouicha. This new agreement came as a Concrete manifestation of the university’s and the ministry’s strong will to reinforce their collaboration within the framework of a fruitful integration which will better answer the needs and aspirations of Moroccans living abroad with regards to learning Arabic language and learning about Moroccan culture, cultural exchange, executive education as well as research on immigration.
This agreement aims, most importantly, at strengthening the relationship of young Moroccans living abroad with their homeland and preserving their linguistic and cultural identities through classes in Arabic language and Moroccan cultures, while enabling them to participate in various cultural and educational activities organized by Al Akhawayn University.
The agreement also aims at developing and diversifying initiatives intended to promote research and studies in various fields relevant to the issue of immigration, and organizing thematic training sessions for the benefit of Arabic professors living abroad and ministry staff working in areas like management and human resource development.
In addition, the agreement between the Ministry and Al Akhawayn University aims at building a sense of solidarity with outstanding Moroccan students living abroad, and who come from low-income families, by admitting them to Al Akhawayn University and enabling them to pursue their studies in Ifrane in the various programs offered by the university, or by offering them the opportunity to take part in the university’s outstanding international exchange programs and encouraging offers that distinguish Al Akhawayn nationally and internationally.
