If the total incompetence of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation-FRMF- had to be proven, it ridiculed itself last Saturday during a press conference held in a hotel in Rabat.
For sports commentators, it is the first time in the history of sports that the federation organizes a large media intervention to “celebrate an early elimination in a tournament.”
But according to some Moroccan football sources, the problem is not so much the press conference itself, but the appalling level of the national coach and head of the delegation Karim Alem. The former got confused when mixing sports communication and antics, and the latter delivered a document to the press that should be inscribed in the annals of public accounting.
According to Karim Alem, Morocco’s participation in the first round of the CAN has cost the FRMF a whopping 3.5 million dirhams. All figures presented by the head of the delegation were round. Whether it is for transport, equipment purchase on site or food supplies, no figure includes points.
“The federation is mocking Moroccans and journalists. They think they are idiots. If they pull on the rope too much, the men of Ali Fassi-Fihri will break it, “growls a veteran of the sports press in Morocco. The disenchantment is already installed with the people of football on one side, and the FRMF national coach on the other.
