A number of Facebook pages and groups on the Internet have been posting about a massive cyber attack on Israeli websites. The news was reported by the Israeli daily news paper Haaretz in a big title “Hackers threaten to ‘wipe Israel off Internet map’ in massive cyber attack.”
Haaretz reported that Some 19,000 Israeli Facebook accounts have been reportedly attacked by hackers affiliated with Anonymous group. Hackers threaten to wage ‘the largest Internet battle in the history of mankind,’ it said.
It is believed that also sites serving government agencies, including the Israel Securities Authority, the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption and the Central Bureau of Statistics were to brought down, according to a list posted on hackersnewsbulletin.com. However, the sites appeared to be back in service shortly after being attacked added the same source.
This attack came from different places in the world as solidarity with the Gaza strip.
In addition, TH3 professional security, a famous page on Facebook has revealed that 20,000 Facebook accounts, 5,000 Twitter accounts, and 30,000 bank accounts in Israel have been hacked.
The same source has added that even some money was transferred from Bank accounts to charity associations.
The Facebook page Activists around the world for Palestine made public more than 1,500 Mossad hacked emails.
Roni Bachar, a cyber-security expert at the Avnet Information Security said that so far, the operation amounted to nothing more than a power struggle between Anonymous and Israeli hackers.
