Doha, April 8, 2013 (MAP)
Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Saad Dine El Otmani, is taking part this Monday in Doha in the ministerial meeting of the Arab peace initiative committee.
Chaired by Qatar, the committee comprises Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Yemen, in addition to the Arab League secretary general.
According to a diplomatic source at the Arab league, participants will set a date for an Arab delegation’s visit to Washington to review with the US administration the Middle East peace process, in keeping with recommendations of the 24th Arab summit held last March in Doha.
The Committee meeting is held as US secretary of state John Kerry is touring the Middle East to try and restore peace between Israel and Arab countries, including Palestine.
The Arab summit of Doha had decided to dispatch a ministerial delegation, led by Qatar, to discuss with the UN Security Council, the USA, the European Union, Russia and China mechanisms and a timetable for serious negotiations leading to the settlement of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
