Commenting on the wave of pretests carried out in recent weeks by female activists demonstrating bare-breasted, Moroccan Minister of Family and Solidarity, Bassima Hakaoui, said that this behavior is animal-like and takes humanity back to pre-history when humans used to go about naked.
In interview with the Moroccan daily Al Massae on Sunday, the only female minister of the PJD-led government expressed her rejection of this wave of protests, saying there are other more civilized ways people can use to voice their concerns and claim their rights.
“ Protest is a legitimate right, and can be manifested in any human and moral ways where there is respect for oneself and the other,” said the Minister, adding that what we are witnessing nowadays “affects human values??, because disclosure of the body is an animal-like behavior.”
The minister went on to express her astonishment to see a person resort to “inhuman and uncivilized” ways of protesting, adding that protest can be done through poetry, writing, as well as raising banners.
