The Association of Moroccan Alumni (AMA) started its Youth-Led Projects Initiative Program in Tiznit, Morocco (300 km south of Marrakech) on Thursday, April 11, 2013.
The opening ceremony, which took place at the Conference and Training Centre, was attended by the Delegate of the Ministry of Education in Tiznit, a representative of the city council, AMA members Mr. Ahmed Atlagh, Ms Fatima Kelyati, Mr. Mohamed Makhfi, Mr. Driss Lamqadem, Mr. Youssef El Kaidi, Miss Kamilya Morkanty, Mr. Mustapha Mouhibe, and forty youth participants from ten different region of Morocco.
In his opening statement, Mr. Ahmed Atlagh, AMA vice president, thanked the attendance and welcomed the youth participants to this event. Fatima Kelyati, a former AMA president and an active member of the association, spoke on behalf of AMA members and thanked all those who contributed to the implementation of this ambitious program.
The Delegate of the Ministry of Education in Tiznit addressed the youth participants and congratulated them for taking part in such a distinguished program and expressed his unconditional support for such innovative educational initiatives. He also thanked AMA members for the continuous efforts they invested in this program, and many other ones, to promote education in Morocco.
The Youth-Led Projects Initiative Program aims at empowering 40 high school students from Taza, Tahla, Fez, Fnideq, Tetouan, Kenitra, Casablanca, Benslimane, Agadir, Tinghir, Ait Melloul and Tiznit with a wide variety of leadership skills. Team building, communication skills, critical thinking, conflict management and civic and political engagement are some of the main themes of the training. The benefiting students will also be trained on how to choose ideas, plan, implement and evaluate their own projects.
AMA members work in collaboration with the University of the Middle East to professionally develop and promote education in Morocco through the implementation of training programs and the organization of events in various parts of the country.
This program is sponsored by the embassy of the United State, Tiznit city council and the delegation of the Ministry of National Education in Tiznit.
