Some Saudi religious policemen or as commonly known “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice”, have been reported to storm the UAE pavilion at the annual Genaderia festival held in the Saudi Arabian capital city of Riyadh on Sunday and evacuated three Emirati young men because “they are too handsome” , according to the Emirati news website emirates247.
“A festival official said the three Emiratis were taken out on the grounds they are too handsome and that the commission members feared female visitors could fall for them,” said Elaph news service which broke out the news firsthand, adding that the festival’s management took urgent measures to deport the three to Abu Dhabi.
Another religious police man had stormed the UAE stand. According to a statement released by the UAE delegation to the festival, the reason was that the man was attracted by the presence of an Emirati female artist at the stand.
The statement went on to add that the artist‘s visit was not previously arranged and she had come to the UAE pavilion by “coincidence”.
