The European Union (EU) is “very keen” to strengthen its cooperation with Morocco in various fields, particularly in the fight against insecurity in the Sahel region, said Friday in Rabat, the representative of the Union for the Sahel Michel Reyverand de Menthon.
“The EU is ready to cooperate more closely and effectively with the Moroccan authorities,” M. Reyverand de Menthon told the press following his talks with the Minister of Interior, Mohand Laenserm adding that “Morocco is a major player in the region who is present, since long time, in many Sahelian countries in various ways”.
“We have planned to continue this dialogue (with Morocco) and we are sensitive to the need for a comprehensive approach” to fight against organized crime in all its dimensions, he said.
Michel Reyverand de Menthon had also held talks on Thursday with the Minister Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Youssef Amrani.
