Egypt’s presidency said Saturday that liberalleader Mohamed ElBaradei has not been officially appointed prime minister,after several official sources said the former UN nuclear watchdog chief hadbeen named premier.
“Interim president Adly Mansour met today with Dr. ElBaradei but so farthere has been no official appointment,” presidential advisor Ahmedal-Muslimani told reporters.
He added, however, that ElBaradei was “the logical choice” among a list ofnames being considered in the wake the military’s ouster on Wednesday ofIslamist president Mohamed Morsi.
A source close to the negotiations told AFP different camps that agreed tothe military’s roadmap for a political transition were still trying toconvince the Salafist Al-Nour Party to back ElBaradei.
