Morocco pins high hopes on the American initiative seeking the resumption of Israeli-Palestinian talks, Morocco’s ambassador to the UN Mohamed Loulichki said on Tuesday in New York. Morocco welcomes and supports the U.S. initiative on which the Kingdom pins high hopes to create the adequate conditions for a real and serious resumption of negotiations for a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict in the Middle East, said the ambassador.
Loulichki was speaking at a public debate by the UN Security Council of the UN on the issue of the Middle East. This debate, said the diplomat, takes place in a particular situation marked by efforts by the U.S. administration to reinvigorate the negotiations between the two parties and led to an agreement in principle for reviving the peace process frozen for more than three years.
He called on Israel to show political will and firm determination to take advantage of this opportunity which may be the last to save the two-state vision. The two sides must seize this opportunity to resume negotiations and build on the achievements made in order to ensure the success of negotiations, he added.
