Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal said, “Saudi Arabia will support all steps for the end of bloodshed in Syria.”
In a joint press conference held with Egyptian counterpart Nabil Fahmi, Faisal referred to the possible US intervention against Syria by saying, “we will support all steps taken by the international community to stop the bloodshed in Syria.”
Indicating that Arab countries had suggested political solutions for an end to the crisis in Syria, Faisal noted, “these suggestions have lacked success due to the Assad regime insisting on a military solution.”
Referring to the incidents in Egypt, Faisal conveyed messages of love and good wishes from Saudi Arabian King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to Egypt’s interim President Adly Mansour. He added that the people and government of Saudi Arabia would stand by Egypt during all times and under all circumstances.
Expressing his happiness over the connection among the people of Egypt during those difficult days, Faisal stated that they were hopeful and expected Egypt to undergo better days in the future.
Meanwhile Egyptian Foreign Minister Fahmi noted that while they were against the use of chemical weapons in Syria, they did not agree with a possible military intervention in the country.
