CASABLANCA – Seymour Hersh, a controversial American journalist claims that the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Oussama Bin Laden by US Navy Seals raid in 2011 is a “ big lie.”
“Nothing’s been done about that story, it’s one big lie, not one word of it is true” Seymour Hersh said in an interview to the Guardian newspaper.
The Pulitzer Prize winning journalist doubts the credibility of a report released by Pakistan following the assassination of Bin Laden, describing it as a “bullshit report.”
He accuses President Barack Obama’s Administration of being the real author of the aforementioned report when he said , “the Pakistanis put out a report, don’t get me going on it. Let’s put it this way, it was done with considerable American input.”
The 76 year-old added that Obama administration “lies systematically.” “The president and the minions around the president had control of the narrative, you would pretty much know they would do the best they could to tell the story straight,” he told the Guardian newspaper in an interview aimed at getting publicity for his new book about US national security.
Seymour Hersh believes that American media “lack courage to challenge the authority,” when he said that most editors are pusillanimous and should be fired. Furthermore, he called for the closure of American Television channels NBC and ABC as well as firing 90 per cent “of the editors that now exist” and “start promoting editors that you can’t control.”
Obama’s administration refusal to release Bin Laden’s death photos raises questions about whether he was really killed.
On May 5, 2011 President Barack Obama said in an interview to CBS news that he will not release post-mortem images of Bin Laden in order to prove the latter’s death.
“Keep in mind that we are absolutely certain that this was him. We’ve done DNA sampling and testing. And so there is no doubt that we killed Osama bin Laden, ” Obama told CBS news.
The American President stressed that “There is no doubt that Osama bin Laden is dead.”
“Certainly there is no doubt among al Qaeda members that he is dead. So we don’t think that a photograph in and of itself is going to make any difference,” he reiterated.
In reference to views that are similar to Seymour Hersh’ claim, Obama predicted that “There are going to be some folks who deny it” .
“The fact of the matter is, you will not see Bin Laden walking on this earth again,” the president emphasized.
Last May, U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected a request for the release of Bin Laden death photos.
