CAIRO – Eight Egyptian school children and their teacher were killed in a Cairo road accident on Wednesday when their vehicle collided with a truck, police said.
The truck flipped over in the high speed crash and landed on the vehicle transporting the children, police officials said.
The elementary school children had been on their way home after classes.
Bad driving and lax enforcement of traffic regulations are often blamed for the high frequency of road accidents in Egypt.
Last week, 14 people died when a truck and a minibus collided near the Suez Canal city of Ismailiya.
