Casablanca- Morocco has topped the list of the most prosperous nations in North Africa, ranking first in Legatum Institute’s recent Prosperity Index 2013.
The index bases its ranking of countries on an array of criteria, such as economy, governance, entrepreneurship, business opportunities, education, fight against corruption, health, human development, individual freedoms, as well as national security.
As to the overall 38 African countries covered in Lagatum Institute’s prosperity analysis, Morocco ranks as the third most prosperous nation in Africa, right before North Africa and Botswana.
Tunisia ranked fourth, followed by Namibia, Algeria, Ghana, Senegal, Rwanda, Zambia and Egypt. Mauritania ranked 26 on the list.
The Legatum Prosperity Index is an annual ranking, developed by the Legatum Institute (London), which is an independent, non-partisan public policy organization whose research, publications, and programs advance ideas and policies in support of free and prosperous societies around the world.
