Rabat- Othman Benjelloun, Moroccan Banking industry mogul landed on the 13th position in the list of the richest people in Africa issued by Nigerian Magazine Ventures Africa.
BMCE Bank president is the only Moroccan who made to the list.
The current 13th position contradicts an earlier list of Forbes Magazine where Benjelloun was ranked the 7th richest man in Africa.
Ventures Magazine’s list included Africa’s 55 billionaires from 10 African countries with a combined fortune of $143.88 billion.
Nigeria, South Africa and Egypt have the highest number of billionaires at 20, 9 and 8 respectively.
Three women made it into the list. Folorunsho Alakija, a Nigerian oil tycoon and fashion designer is the richest woman in Africa with a fortune of $7.3 billion, followed by Angolan President’s daughter Isabel Dos Santos and Kenya’s first President widow Mama Ndina.
The richest man in Africa is Aliko Dangote from Nigeria with a net worth of $20.2 billion.
