PARIS – France has called in the US ambassador over “spying” by US National Security Agency on French citizens.
French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius summoned US ambassador in Paris over allegations about US National Security Agency’s (NSA) spying on French citizens.
“I have immediately summoned the US ambassador and he will be received this morning at the French Foreign Ministry,” Fabius told reporters following a ministerial meeting in Luxembourg on Monday.
Earlier French Interior Minister Manuel Valls demanded explanation from the US following Le Monde’s reports that 70.3 million phone calls were recorded by the NSA.
