Rabat – Foreign minister Salaheddine Mezouar held, Thursday in Rabat, a meeting of consultations with leaders of political parties on the latest developments of the Moroccan-Algerian ties after the Kingdom’s decision to recall its ambassador in Algiers for consultations.
All representatives of political parties affirmed that Algeria’s escalation is irresponsible and does not help clear the air to enable the UN conduct its mission of finding an agreed political solution to the Sahara issue, Mezouar told MAP after the meeting.
He added that leaders of political parties insisted on the need to continue mobilization, noting that Moroccans will never accept the crossing of some red lines, mainly concerning the national cause and the so-called broadening of MINURSO mandate.
A call was made during the meeting to draw the attention of the international community on the tragedy of the Tindouf camps, the minister added.
Before the meeting, Mezouar told the press that the meeting shows the unanimity on the issue of the Sahara, underlining that Morocco has always endeavored to find a peaceful and just political solution to the Sahara conflict and facilitate the mission of the UNSG personal envoy Christopher Ross.
He concluded by saying that the Kingdom will always show a spirit of responsibility, good neighborliness and wisdom and stick to reinforcing the Maghreb edifice.
