Washington – President Barack Obama is due to meet King Mohammed VI of Morocco this afternoon, the White house reported on Friday.
The American President will hold its much-anticipated meeting with Morocco’s head of state after the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of John F. Kennedy’s assassination.
The meeting between both head of States will take place at 2.40 pm local time (7.40 pm HMT), the white house said on Friday.
The White House had said earlier this month when it announced Friday’s Oval Office meeting that Obama wanted to discuss Morocco’s political reforms, along with violent extremism, democratic transitions and economic development in the Middle East and Africa.
“This visit is also an opportunity to increase our cooperation on addressing regional challenges, including countering violent extremism, supporting democratic transitions, and promoting economic development in the Middle East and Africa,” says the White House.
President Obama has also declared Friday a Day of Remembrance in Kennedy’s honor”, USA Today added.
