Tetouan – Moroccan fans in the city of Tetouan, northern Morocco, followed the entire match with emotions and anxiety.
During the match, fans inside cafes had mixed feelings of happiness and sorrow especially when the Brazilian team scored their first goal.
After the end of the game, a hysterical crowd gathered to celebrate this historic victory both inside cafes and on the streets.
Fans expressed their points of view after match. Ali a teacher of Arabic told MWN: “the match was astonishing and Rajaa has done its best to win it, as it prevented the Brazilian team from moving to the final.”
“I didn’t believe the final whistle of the referee, especially since the Brazilian team is well known for its professionalism in football. Congratulations to the team and the Moroccan people,” he added with a big smile on his face.
“I am not a supporter of Rajaa but the much was amazing, and I have never seen Raja’s players play like that. They were courageous and their courage had the upper hand over the talent of the Brazilians,” another fan said, adding that he still does not realize a Moroccan team is in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.
“The possession of the ball was even between the two teams with a slight advantage for Raja of Casablanca, which managed to translate that advantage into goals. I am so happy because Rajaa is the first Arab team that reaches the final of the World Cup of Clubs,’’ a 36-year old shop owner said.
A university student said that Raja of Casablanca deserves the victory as “it played better than the Brazilian team.” “The green was phenomenal today; they played unbelievably better than the Brazilian Clube Atlético Mineiro. Therefore, it deserves to be in the final,” he said.
