Fez- After Raja of Casablanca’s defeat of Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro on Wednesday in the semi-final of the FIFA Club World Cup, one would have imagined that Brazilians would be disappointed that one of their premier teams failed to qualify for the final of the tournament. But not so, at least for the fans of Atletico Mineiro’s rival, Cruzeiro, who expressed their jubilation at Mineiro’s defeat.
Cruzeiro’s fans did not just settle for showing their satisfaction with the final score of the game. Instead they went so far as to imitate the way Raja’s fans had celebrated their team’s historic victory and renamed a Brazilian street “Casa Raja.”
Brazilians were stunned by the maturity shown by Raja’s players on the pitch during the match, which enable them to earn a spot in the final of the tournament, which will take place on Saturday in Marrakech.
In an interview after the match, Ronaldinho, the Brazilian star, expressed his disappointment, saying that the elimination was a “bitter” defeat, but he nevertheless applauded the Moroccan team for being better at translating the openings it created into goals.
