Casablanca – The Moroccan green team’s qualification for the World Club Cup final, after defeating Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro 3-1, has received international attention in all corners of the world.
While numerous Brazilian news outlets have reported on Raja’s remarkable performance against Atletico Mineiro, other neighboring countries, namely Venezuela, could not resist also highlighting the Moroccan club’s unprecedented victory.
Venezuelan news outlet El Universal described Raja’s victory over Atletico Mineiro as a “historical achievement,” especially because the green club’s qualification for the World Club Cup final had not been anticipated by most analysts.
The Venezuelan daily also highlighted that Raja’s unforeseen victory against the Brazilian club has transformed the latter’s hopes of qualifying for the final into merely endeavoring to attain a position in the third rank of this tournament. To do so, Atletico Mineiro will now have to defeat the Chinese club, Guangzhou Evergrande.
El Universal also noted that Raja’s achievements during this World Club Cup are unmatched by any other Arab team. The green club’s subsequent victories against the other internationally recognized teams that took part in this World Cup, namely Auckland City (2-1), Monterrey (2-1) and Atletico Mineiro (3-1), affirm that this Moroccan club has all it takes “to go international.”
Raja’s supporters are now looking forward to the Moroccan club’s final match against Bayern Munich today, Saturday 21, in Marrakech’s Grand Stadium at 7:30 p.m. While clearly it will be an uphill battle, Raja’s faithful supporters, along with international observers, see the green team as geared-up and ready with all it takes to oppose the German superstar, Bayern Munich.
