In a meeting on Tuesday with the speaker of the House of Advisors Mohamed Cheikh Biadillah, Berberat welcomed the courageous initiatives by King Mohammed VI in Mali, saying that the visit of the Sovereign to this country was very meaningful, said a statement from the House of Advisors.
The Swiss top official also welcomed the initiative of training Malian imams in Morocco in an environment marked by openness, tolerance and coexistence, describing the process as “a positive step” to counter extremism.
Berberat, who was accompanied by the official in charge of the program of peace policy for West and Central Africa at the Swiss Foreign affairs Ministry Vincent Conus and the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation in Morocco Louis Bertrand, commended the excellent relations between Switzerland and Morocco, emphasizing the role of parliaments of both countries to strengthen and further these ties.
