Casablanca- Moroccan associations known for their hostility towards Israel have recently called upon the Head of the government, Mr. Benkirane, to criminalize any Moroccans who visit Tel Aviv of “spying for the enemy.”
The announced visit of Amazigh activists to Israel has seemingly outraged Moroccan opponents of the normalization of relations with the Hebrew state.
At a press briefing on Thursday in Rabat, activist Khalid Sufiyani and his supporters firmly denounced the said visit to Israel. He called on the Moroccan government to charge any Moroccan who enters Israel with “joining the enemy.”
According to news website Yabiladi, the same opponents of normalization with Israel said that any Moroccan who visit to Israel “should be considered a ‘spy’ working for Israeli secret services.”
The anti-normalization associations have also called on the Ministry of Justice and Freedoms and the ministry of Interior to “proceed immediately to investigate statements attributed to supporters of reconciliation with Israel,” according to the same source.
These associations believe that those statements would “seriously jeopardize Morocco’s sovereignty and stability “.
These same anti-normalization associations have allegedly threatened to divulge, on March 30, 2014 (Palestinian Land Day), a list of Moroccan individuals and companies who cooperate with Israel. Moroccan Observatory against Normalization is expected to hold a meeting the same day.
