Amsterdam – Morocco called, at a meeting on Wednesday in the Hague, on the Netherlands’ authorities to cancel their unilateral decision on family allowance reduction, underlining the need to preserve the acquired rights of Moroccan expats.
The meeting, which was attended by a Moroccan delegation led by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training Mimoun Bentaleb and officials from the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs, is part of the ongoing dialogue between the two countries in the field of social security, following the decision of the Netherlands to reduce some allowances for the expatriates’ eligible parties residing in Morocco.
This meeting, which will continue on Thursday, will focus on examining this measure which concerns mainly pensions for widows and orphans and sickness compensation during temporary stays.
The Dutch delegation expressed once again the will of its government to amend the agreement signed between Morocco and the Netherlands in order to adapt it to the new Dutch legislations in the field of social security concerning the said reduction.
