Agadir - President and CEO of French group CMA CGM Jacques Saadé, one of the global leaders of container shipping, said Wednesday in Agadir, that "Morocco is a strategic market" for the group, which aims to further develop its activities in other destinations around the world.
“We want to develop presence in Morocco and other destinations, including North America, Canada, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Middle East,” said Saadé during a reception in honor of several businessmen and economic operators in the Agadir region.
He recalled that the relationship between Morocco and the group dates back to 1983 and is consolidated by the purchase in 2007 of COMANAV Cargo, as well as the acquisition of shares in the ports of Casablanca and Tanger Med.
CMA CGM is ready to make its network available in Morocco which is interested in expanding in West Africa, he said, adding that this group which links Morocco to over 400 destinations throughout the world is “ready to create direct services to other destinations if Moroccan exporters have the necessary volume.”
Founded in Marseille in 1978, the CMA CGM Group is present in more than 150 countries through its network of over 650 agencies, with more than 18,000 employees worldwide (4,700 in France).
