Fez – Abengoa, the Spanish corporation for renewable energy will develop a new desalination project in Agadir estimated at 82 Million Euros ($112).
The Moroccan National Electricity and Drinking Water Office (ONEE) chose the Spanish company to build this new plant.
“The project will draw on Abengoa’s technological capabilities, based on a desalination method using a water ultrafiltration pre-treatment that will optimize the advanced reverse osmosis process,” said a statement by the company.
The project will be the largest of its kind in Morocco with a capacity to to produce 100 thousand cubic drinking water, and supply around 800 thousand people on a daily basis.
The facility will be based on Abengoa desalination method “using a water ultrafiltration pre-treatment that will optimize the advanced reverse osmosis process.”
The plant will be crucial to put an end to supply shortages in the region, which has ongoing developments in the tourism and agriculture fields.
