Stockholm – The number of Nordic tourists who visited Morocco in the first quarter of 2014 increased by 58pc compared to the same period of last year.
According to the representation of the Moroccan tourism office (ONMT) in Scandinavian and Baltic countries, the number of nights spent by these tourists rose by 133pc (90,268) in the same period as the number of visitors went up from 20,033 from January to March 2013 to 31,722 in the January through March 2014 period.
“The sustained double-digit growth of the number of Nordic tourists in Morocco, maintained in the last three years, will help Morocco emerge as a preferred destination for these tourists”, explained ONMT director for Scandinavian and Baltic countries, Aziz Mnii.
He also recalled Morocco’s presence in a number of specialized fairs and events in the region, including in Oslo, Goteborg, Helsinki, Copenhagen and Herning as well as the considerable number of trips organized for over 40 journalists in the first quarter of 2014.
Tour operators and specialized bloggers were also offered a chance to visit Morocco, producing over 500 stories and 600 photos on the Kingdom’s tourism attractions.
