Rabat – Manufacturing production in Morocco rose by 1.6pc in the first quarter of 2014, as a result of the world economic recovery, particularly in Europe, says the latest report “World Manufacturing Production, Statistics for Quarter I,” published the United National Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
After seven quarters of decline, Morocco is posting growth in the production of machinery and equipment, says the report, noting that developing economies in North Africa have benefited from the world economic recovery, particularly in Europe.
According to the UN specialized agency, the manufacturing sector entered a phase of regular growth after a long period of recession, as the world manufacturing production increased by 5.1 pc in the first quarter of 2014, the highest rate in the last three years.
A better financial situation in industrialized countries is the major factor behind the present growth, says the report which also notes that industrial emerging economies, except for China, are still experiencing low levels of growth.
