Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian player in José Mourinho’s side might witness an end to his career with London-based Chelsea as Egyptian media reported that he may be ordered to make a comeback to Egypt to complete Military duty.
The 22-year-old, who made a transfer from Swiss club Basle to Chelsea in January, is allowed the ability to travel abroad based on his participation in an educational program.
However, Salah’s registration was cancelled by the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education, a decision that may force him to return to his homeland to serve mandatory military service, football website Kingfut.com said.
The decision could prevent Salah from leaving Egypt again until the completion of his militarily duties that could range from 12 months to three years, meaning a huge blow to his career with the Blues.
“Salah has expressed his shock about the decision”, former Egyptian footballer Ahmed Hassan told kingfut.com.
“He told me that he is trying to represent Egypt in the best way possible. Is this best response from the country?”
In order to find a solution, a meeting has been scheduled between the Egyptian Football association, the national team coaching staff and the Minister of Higher Education.
