Marrakech- The Moroccan track and field team harvested eight medals to end up ninth at the 19th African Senior Athletics Championships, which took place in Marrakech on August 10-14, 2014.
Rhizlane Siba offered Morocco its only gold medal at the championships, finishing first in the high jump. The Moroccan athlete beat Egyptian Basant Mohamed Mosaad in the final of the competition. Both athletes tied with 1.80m, but the Moroccan won thanks to the number of trials.
Mustapha El Aziz and Nisrine Dinar clinched the silver medals for Team Morocco in the 10,000 meters and the pole vault respectively. The squad also won five bronze medals.
South Africa finished tops with ten gold, five silver and four bronze medals, followed by Nigeria (eight gold, nine silver and seven bronze medals) and Kenya (seven gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals)
