Rabat - US General Electric (GE) signed, on Monday in Rabat, a partnership agreement with Nareva Holding to extend Akhfennir wind park (south) and double its installed capacity from 100 MW to 200 MW.
Rabat – US General Electric (GE) signed, on Monday in Rabat, a partnership agreement with Nareva Holding to extend Akhfennir wind park (south) and double its installed capacity from 100 MW to 200 MW.
Signed by CEO of General Electric for MENA and Turkey Nabil Habyeb and director of Nareva Holding’s energy department Mohamed Sebti, the agreement is part of Morocco’s wind energy integrated program to achieve a capacity of 2,000 MW by 2020.
Under this agreement, inked in the presence of GE’s CEO Jeffrey Immelt and Nareva Holding’s counterpart Ahmed Nakkouch, the American company will provide 56 GE turbines 1.7-100 to offer the Akhfennir wind park, located south of Morocco and developed by Energie éolienne du Maroc (EEM), a clean wind power to support the country’s industrial sector, said GE in a statement.
GE turbines1.7-100 will support Morocco achieve its renewable energy goals, said the source, adding that they will also show EEM’s competitiveness to produce energy thanks to alternative forms for power production.
