Fes – The idea of Wish Happy Eid to a stranger was launched last year by Moroccan blogger Baba Louay.
Louay spend over three years traveling around the world, and he returned to Morocco last year he deiced to share the joy of Eid holidays with strangers.
“I hadn’t celebrated Eid in Morocco for three years. When I was back early 2013, I wanted to make something special. #Eid is usually celebrated among the members of one family within which greetings are a way to get closer to one another. So I thought I should celebrate this special feast with everybody, giving to the family a bigger scale, whose members blood type is “humanity,” he told MWN.
Last year Louay was promoting this idea on his own. But when he launched it, he was not sure whether it was going to be that successful and spread in other Moroccan cities. Today, the Wish Happy Eid to a Stranger initiatives is now present in seven Moroccan cities, namely Rabat, Casablanca, Sale, Fez, Kenitra, Marrakech, El Jadidad and Meknes, in addition to three European cities: Charleroi, Lyon and Southampton.
“I was walking around spreading wishes all by myself 12 months ago. Today we’re more than 50 crazy youth in 7 different cities who shared this heart-felted experience with our communities,” he added.
