Taroudante –The Egyptian Embassy in Rabat has denied allegations that an Egyptian official has paid an official visit, at any level, to the Tindouf camps in Algeria.
Contrary to what some media outlets have claimed, the Egyptian embassy in Morocco refuted the claims that “An Egyptian delegation led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture of the country paid an official visit to the Tindouf camps.”
The information office of the Embassy of Egypt said in a statement that Egyptian individuals may pay visits to Tindouf from time to time, but this “has nothing to do with the official position of the Egyptian government, adding that “opinions expressed by these citizens reflect only their own views.”
The Embassy added that the personal opinions that may be expressed by these individuals do not reflect in any way the official position of the Egypt towards the ‘Western Sahara’ issue.
The Egyptian embassy said that Egypt is still “supportive of the efforts made by the United Nations to reach a fair solution for all parties,” adding that the relations between Morocco and Egypt are in the best shape.
The Polisario Front had claimed, through its media outlets, that an official delegation from Egypt had paid a visit earlier this month to the Tindouf camps.
