“Spain regrets the serious damage caused by intense storms over the weekend in southern Morocco, particularly in the region of Guelmin, leading to the loss of at least 8 lives, the disappearance of several dozen people and serious material damage”, the President of the Spanish Government Mariano Rajoy said in a message to the head of government Abdelilah Benkirane, posted on the website of the Presidency of the Spanish Government.
“The Government of Spain conveys its sincere condolences to the families of those affected, and to the people and authorities of Morocco, on the tragic consequences of this flooding and hopes that those missing are found soon”, the Spanish leader said in his message.
He recalled that the Government of Spain has offered emergency aid within the framework of bilateral military cooperation.
