Rabat- Morocco’s participation in the US-led coalition to fight against the Islamic State is not limited to the exchange of information as it was already reported.
The kingdom is helping in the effort of ‘degrading and defeating’ the Islamic State by sending F-16 fighters to the battle field.
According to the New York Times, Morocco is the latest Arab nation to respond to an American appeal for more power, sending several F-16s to the fight.
The Moroccan F-16 fighters will be targeting fixed sites like military headquarters, communications centers, oil refineries, training camps, troop barracks and weapon depots, added the NY Times.
A source familiar with the issue cited by Telquel Magazine said that a dozen Moroccan pilots have already joined the United Arab Emirates where they will conduct operations against the Islamic State.
The source added that, in addition to Moroccan F16s, the Moroccan pilots will also pilot Emirati military planes.
