Marrakech – The 14th edition of the Marrakech International Film Festival opened, on Friday, under the patronage of HM King Mohammed VI.
Like every year, the opening ceremony of this must-attend event was marked by the presence of several figures from the culture and movie industry, in addition to other spheres.
Many movie-goers came to welcome international guests walking the red carper as British actor Jeremy Irons, Egyptian actress Yousra and Egyptian legend Adel Imam.
The jury’s members, chaired by French Comedian Isabelle Hupert, also walked the red carpet before announcing, each in his/her own language, the opening of this edition.
Welcoming the crowds in Arabic, Hupert highlighted the vitality of this leading fest which brings together movies from the five continents. She also thanked HM King Mohammed VI and Prince Moulay Rachid for this successful event.
The festival will pay tribute to two key figures of the Moroccan film industry Zakaria Alaoui and Khadija Alami.
